Mission

The Hurley Camp Fund was established to provide a summer camp experience for children whose families otherwise could not afford it.

Who We Are

We are the alumni and family of an extraordinary camping experience that has bound us, in spirit, for over 60 years.  Camp Hurley, located outside of Kingston, NY, was a summertime safe haven for thousands of children.

Mission

“The camp is awesome.  It offers so much.  I love all the activities they offer and the campers are so nice.  The activities are cool, but the people that come are the real treasure.  Thanks for making it possible for me to even be here.”

History

History

Although Camp Hurley no longer exists, the experience had a profound effect on many of its participants. It left its campers with the idealism, hope, and dedication to creating a better world. In this spirit, the Hurley Camp Fund began.

With our scholarship program in mind, we have carefully selected camps whose activities and values are similar to those of Camp Hurley. There are many youths who would benefit from a personally enriching camp experience, and whose families don’t have the resources to send them. Our scholarship fund is committed to placing children in summer camps that provide supportive and inspiring experiences.

In our minds, the traditional camp scenes of lake swimming and boating, hiking, handicrafts, ball games, farm animals, cabins and campfire songs, all contribute to the spirit of camp. Through these enjoyable activities, campers develop respect for others and learn how to function as a member of a group as well as in the larger diversified community.

Those of us who attended Camp Hurley have been forever impacted by our experiences. We are dedicated to passing along our appreciation of diversity and our beliefs in social justice and equality. Thanks to ongoing contributions, the fund will continue to send children to socially conscious summer camps where they can play alongside other children from differing religious, ethnic and economic backgrounds.

Greetings to all from the founders of The Hurley Camp Fund.  We are a group of about 100 people who initiated this fund in 1991, and who are bound by a single experience:  time spent, and memories closely held, by our time in Camp Hurley in the 1950s and 1960s.  We have one purpose - to raise money for scholarships to send children ages 8-15 years old to camp so that they may enjoy a similar, life changing experience.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR DONATION
